Dodgers Extend Kent’s Contract

Dodgers announced this morning that All-Star second baseman JeJeff_kent_1ff Kent’s contract has been exteneded one year with an option for 2008.

Kent has (306) HR’s the most by any second basemans all time.

Kent is a hometown boy from Bellflower CA. It’s good to see a So Cal native suceeding at home with the Dodgers.

Good luck Kent.

Baseball Parks around the US

Stadium_at_sunset

I am (30) yrs old and I am finally in a position where I can live out one of my many dreams. To visit ball parks across the US. My wife and I have been married for (5) years and after much struggle like most young couples we’re now financially comfortable (not rich, just c omfortable). With family, church, and work obligations I believe I can realistically visit about (9 to 10) ball parks this season. I’m of course hitting the major ones;

Wrigley Field

Yankee Stadium

Fenway Park

Any suggestions as to which ones I should also visit? I’ve been to PETCO Park in SD, AT&T Park in SF, Yankee Stadium and of course BLUE HEAVEN in LA.

I’m really open to any suggestions, if you have a favorite let me know why.

Thanks

Where’s Barry?

Sf_06_153_1 I heard that Barry Bonds was going to be MIA the rest of the pre season, so I went to S.F. this past weekend looking for him. I couldn’t find him. Where is he?

Anyway, I love the Dodgers with the same passion that I hate Bonds. He’s everything that’s wrong with baseball, he’s arrogant, doesn’t care about the fans and worst off all he’s a cheat. It’s going to be impossible to look at his accomplishments and not think of what could have been if he hadn’t taken steroids (allegedly). Where would he rank among the all-time greats?  That is something we will never know. What a shame.

It’s allot of fun hating the SF Giants (THE HATED ONES) and everybody in the organization because they’re our rivals but it’s true hate I have for Bonds. As much as I like the Dodgers if for some strange reason he would ever end up becoming a part of the Dodger family as a player or coach I would stop rooting for them and would burn all my Dodger gear. I hope he goes away very soon. Well enough of that, let’s get this season started.

See you in Blue Heaven next week as we take on the Braves. I will make the trek down to So Cal for Opening Day and the rest of the series with Atlanta. Look for me there, I’ll be the one wearing Dodger Blue. I’ll buy you a Dodger Dog if you find me.

Fantasy Baseball Time

So this is my second year participating in the world of Fantasy Baseball. Last year I was a rookie playing against guys who have been playing even before the Internet was invented. As you can imaging I was a little intimidated but I decided to go ahead with it anyway and try to do my best not to finish in last place. Even though I didn’t know what I was doing I had an excellent draft and managed to have a good season with very few trades throughout the year. I managed to finish in the money with a (4th) place finish. Wow! I expect similar results now that I somewhat know what I’m doing.

This is the team that put a few extra bucks in my pocket last year. Some of them have been cut and since I play in a NL only league other have been traded to the AL so my team will look completely different for 2006. I still have to keep a minimum of (4) and a max of (7). Will keep you updated as draft day is fast approaching. I have no doubt I’ll be able to assemble another winning team.

Viva Los Dodgers!!!

La_logo

Welcome one and all…

La_logo I’m a die hard Dodger fan and have been all my life (30 years and 24 days). I grew up in the shadows of Chavez Ravine and have been going to games for as long as I can remember. Belonging to a house full of women I was the only sports enthusiast in my family following the Lakers, LA Raiders and the Kings and can remember being (12) years old sitting in front of the TV all by myself as Kirk Gibson stepped up to the plate to pinch hit for pitcher Alejandro Pena in the bottom of the 9th inning in 1988′s World Series game…and well the rest is Dodger History.

You are probably wondering what I’m doing in Southern Utah. Well last July I was offered a great career opportunity up here and as I sat down with my wife of (5) years we discussed the pros and cons of moving up here.

PROS;

1) Job with more money

2) Cost of living in UT

3) Good place to start a family

4) Traffic or lack there of…

CONS;

1) Leaving my beloved Dodgers.

You might laugh but that last one almost called the whole thing off. Finally we decided to come up here with the promise we would return to So Cal in a few years…(5) tops. Luckily there is a lot of travel required with my job and since (85) percent of my clients are in LA I will still be able to attend alot of Dodger games. I will be one of the faithfuls and hopefuls at the Home Opener April 3rd.

This year I will document the life of a True Blue Dodger fan who lives in Southern Utah. Wish me luck. LET’S GO DODGERS!!!!
